Sarah Tobias

Sarah is an associate attorney in the Fresno office of Goyette & Associates, practicing in the labor and employment division of the firm. Sarah is the Assistant City Attorney for the City of Tulare, participating in projects such as the implementation of ordinances, responses to Public Records Act requests on behalf of the City, and providing legal opinions on various City Council issues that arise, such as the need for formal advice from the Fair Political Practices Commission.

Sarah also represents public safety officers, firefighters and various other public employees in labor and criminal matters. Sarah focuses on maintaining effective communication with her clients to gain the best possible understanding of their goals and desired outcomes.

Prior to joining the Goyette & Associates’ practice, Sarah worked in the civil litigation field for over three years, specializing in construction defect litigation and general liability matters. Sarah regularly appeared in Court on behalf of her clients at all stages of litigation and participated in mediations and settlement conferences to work towards the best possible resolution for her clients. Sarah was a part of an on-call trial team that specialized in preparing difficult and contentious cases for clients on the eve of trial.

Sarah earned two Bachelor of Arts degrees from the University of California, San Diego, graduating magna cum laude as a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. Sarah went on to earn a Master of Arts degree from New York University in French Literature, doing her coursework in Paris, France. After substitute teaching for a year, Sarah decided to apply her writing and analytical skills to the legal field. Sarah earned a Juris Doctorate, with distinction, from McGeorge School of Law. Sarah also earned a business concentration during her time at McGeorge, and received a Witkin award in Sports Law.

Sarah is currently serving as treasurer of the Women’s Section Board of the Contra Costa County Bar Association and is in the process of joining the Fresno County Bar Association as well.
